What happened
matters.

A way to remember, to grieve and to love.

"Through my own abortion experience I have come to realise many women [and men] feel the same—that it can be difficult to gain any sense of closure. There is no grave to visit, no tangible way of remembering. Until now.” - Marina Young (Founder, Buttons Project, New Zealand)

A Step Towards Healing from Abortion Loss

An abortion affects each person differently. Many carry the pain deep within and struggle to find a way to express it. Some may feel they are not allowed to grieve their losses, while others mourn in isolation.

Buttons Project provides a safe space to memorialise the babies we never met by sending in a button:- physically and/or virtually.

For some, it will be a way of simply remembering. For others, it will be a step towards healing.

Buttons Memorial

Each button symbolises a baby lost through abortion. This memorial is for anyone affected by abortion, to remember the little one who would have been part of their lives.

Some buttons come with a story, and some don’t.

Physical buttons will be preserved in beautiful art installations. Virtual buttons will be displayed on our Virtual Buttons Memorial.

Together we are creating a memorial.

To remember.

To grieve.

To love.
